About the Area

Set in the heart of Cheshire, Warrington is a bustling, vibrant town with a population of 200,000+ people.

Full of character and a unique charm, Warrington fuses the past and the present, with a rich history and a focus on the future. For example, the town is home to the largest IKEA in the UK, while also offering hidden historical gems such as the stunningly restored walled garden of Grappenhall Heys. Other notable attractions include the Parr Hall concert venue, Sankey Valley Park, Bridgewater Canal, Walton Hall and Gardens, and St. Elphin’s Church.

You can see it all from the Warrington Transporter Bridge, a marvellous piece of engineering providing panoramic views.

Despite its industrial roots, Warrington is a town committed to sustainability, with several initiatives running. There are also plenty of parks and reservoirs nearby. 

Set on the banks of the River Mersey, Warrington offers excellent transport links to Manchester and Liverpool. 

Warrington has a strong sporting and musical heritage, with footballers Jesse Lingard and Jack Robinson, and Stone Roses lead singer Ian Brown all born there. Other famous faces from Warrington include actors Warren Brown, Polly Walker, and Pete Postlethwaite.
