However, the most popular alternatives to bi-fold doors are sliding doors and French doors. Sometimes, such as after an extension, an original window can even be converted into French doors. Which you choose will depend on your requirements for the space and your taste.
This is really a question of which is better for you. Consider your budget, the look you are going for, the level of maintenance, and security, before you make your choice. For example, steel and aluminium bi-fold doors are more expensive than uPVC upfront, but metal frames have a slightly longer lifespan and require less maintenance. Aluminium offers more choices of colours and finishes than uPVC, but UPVC is more thermally efficient than aluminium. Aluminium and steel are stronger than UPVC, therefore aluminium and steel bi-fold doors are slightly more secure.
