Manchester Window Factory uPVC French doors are our most energy-efficient French doors. The high-energy performance doors will never rot, rust, or flake and provide a low-maintenance option that meets Britsh Security Standards.
Our uPVC French doors come in 12 beautiful colours and finishes, from modern white and grey to more traditional wood effects.
Aluminium French Doors
Designed with energy efficiency and security in mind, our slimline aluminium French doors are another eco-friendly option.
Combining strength and beauty, with robust yet slender frames for maximum light, our contemporary aluminium French doors are available in five colours.
You can even opt for our ultra-slim aluminium French doors for the slenderest sightlines.
Timber French Doors
For those who prefer something more traditional, our timber French doors offer the ideal mix of authentic styling and modern security.
The timber is laminated to create a stronger, more resilient frame, completed by weather and draft-resistant seals.
Your timber French doors can be finished in any colour or stain finish. You can customise them to match your existing architecture and interiors.
Our French Door Materials
All our French doors are constructed from the finest materials, designed for maximum energy efficiency, durability and a flawless finish.
uPVC stands for unplasticized polyvinyl chloride. It is a plastic which is injected into moulds to create straight lengths. These lengths are then cut to size and joined into a frame. uPVC offers excellent insulation and is very low maintenance, and can be made in several colours or wood effects.
Aluminium is also cut into straight lengths to form a frame and can be finished in any colour. It is very low maintenance, strong, stable and secure, and also offers fantastic insulation. Aluminium frames can also be made from 100% recycled materials.
Last but not least, timber refers to solid hardwood or Accoya, which has been laminated together for extra strength and rigidity. Another great insulator, timber offers a more classic style but requires more maintenance and may not be as weather-resistant as the other two options.
Energy-Efficient and Weather Resistant
Did you know that homes lose 40% of heat through their windows, doors and floors? Fitting new French doors can help to reduce your heating bills because they are designed for maximum air retention. As they are quick to open and close very little heat escapes. The large panes of glass can be double or triple-glazed in all materials, with draught-resistant seals.
With U-values (rate of heat transfer) as low as 0.8, our doors offer market-leading sustainability and can help reduce your heating bills as well as your carbon footprint.
Coordinating with our fantastic glazing options and available in a variety of stunning colours and styles, these BBA-certified doors provide outstanding technical performance in a visually appealing package.
All our French doors have a 10-year fully comprehensive, insurance-backed guarantee on all fixtures and installation.

French Doors FAQ's
What Manchester Window Factory doesn’t know about doors isn’t worth knowing, so if your question isn’t answered below, our family-run business is here to help.
If you are a competent DIY-er you may be able to fit your French doors yourself. Indeed, there are many tutorials online showing you how to do this. The basic points are to triple-check the measurements before you get started, make sure the doors are tight in the frame, and ensure they are easy to open and close.
However, since building regulations require a professional contractor to sign off new French doors, many people choose to have them fitted by a professional such as one of the friendly and efficient Manchester Window Factory team. This will also ensure your doors are properly fitted and fully secure.

There are a few steps to measure your existing door correctly.
- Measure the width in various locations across the door, not including other elements such as stripping. Standard door widths are 30 inches (76 cm), 32 inches (81 cm) and 36 inches (91 cm).
- Measure the height, from top to bottom, in various locations, without including stripping or a door sweep etc. Most doors are 80 inches (200 cm) tall.
- Measure the thickness of the door by holding the tape measure to the edge of the door. Also, measure the same edge of the doorframe (the jamb), which should be the same or very similar. Most doors are 1.75 inches (4.4 cm) thick.
- Just to be thorough, also take the same measurements (width and height) of the open door frame using the same multiple locations method.
If you can, take a photo of your door and print it out. Write the dimensions in the correct places, creating a diagram. Also, include which direction your door opens.
This will make shopping for doors much easier for you or any contractors to choose the right replacement door.
With such large expanses of glass, you may be concerned that French doors are not as secure as their solid wood or uPVC counterparts, but that isn’t true.
The security of your doors comes down to three elements, the glazing, the frame and the locking mechanisms.
Let’s start with the glass. Not only do we offer double and triple glazing options, but all Manchester Window Factory doors are available with toughened laminated glass. Laminated glass is double glazing with an added layer of plastic between the glass or on the outer pane.
If the unrestricted view concerns you, obscure glass is a good option, or you could hang curtains or internal blinds.
Our frames are made of the finest materials and are strong, durable, and built to last.
Finally, all our doors are available with Ultion door barrels, tested and approved by locksmiths and made to police-preferred specifications.
