Located just five miles from Manchester Airport, Stockport is an industrial town once famous for supplying more than 6 million hats around the world. Home to the famous Stockport Viaduct and The Plaza, the oldest cinema and theatre of its kind still in use today, the town also boasts many museums. Stockport is featured in much of the work of artist L.S. Lowry and is the location of Strawberry Studios, where luminaries such as Paul McCartney, Joy Division, and The Stone Roses have recorded music.
