We Cover Eccles
Located in the City of Salford, Eccles is a market town credited with inventing the Eccles cake.
The town grew up around the church of St Mary in the 13th century, and the name is thought to derive from the Welsh word for church (Eglwys).
Blending urban living with plenty of greenery, Eccles offers a bustling arts and culture scene, plus bars and eateries, including the Grade II listed pub, The John Gilbert.
History buffs will also enjoy a stroll around the picturesque grounds of Eccles Parish Church or visit the Manchester Barton Aerodrome. Opened in 1930, the site boasts a historic Control Tower and grass runways. The Barton Swing Aqueduct is another local attraction that forms the start of a walk along the canal.
Green spaces in the town include popular picnic spots the Eccles Recreation Ground, and Buile Hill Park. Venturing slightly further afield, you reach the attractive Bridgewater Canal, Worsley Woods, and the Chat Moss nature reserve.
Eccles has excellent transport links across North West England and beyond, with the M60 motorway and Manchester Airport within easy reach.
