About the Area
A stunning mix of Roman and Tudor architecture makes the historic city of Chester a must-visit for thousands of tourists each year.
Home to the oldest racecourse, the most complete city walls, and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in the UK, Chester is also blessed with a beautiful 1000-year-old cathedral, complete with Europe’s finest example of medieval carvings.
Visitors enjoy shopping on the 700-year-old Rows, fine dining in one of the many excellent restaurants and cafes and guided tours where they can interact with a real-life ‘Roman soldier’.
