Maintenance-free, custom colours, energy efficient and traditional design, it’s no wonder our Mid-Range sash windows are a customer favourite.
The next step up from our Classic collection
Our mid-range windows retain that same versatility and easy functionality, with a little extra authenticity and pizazz.
Manchester Window Factory’s mid-range windows offer an appearance closer to the traditional charm of original timber sash windows for a premium aesthetic at an affordable price point.
Authentic Design
Crafted from high-quality UPVC, our mid-range collection was created to give an authentic period appearance featuring run-through sash horns, Astragal or Georgian bars, and slimline profiles.
Energy Efficient
With A-rating energy efficiency as standard, you can wave goodbye to draughts and say hello to a warmer, cosier home. Our uPVC sliding sash windows are better for insulating your home than ever before with multiple glazing options to enhance this further.
Maintenance Free
Thanks to the innovative inward tilting capability, cleaning the outside of your window frames has never been easier or quicker – just an occasional wipe down will see your sash windows looking fresh for years to come, and no painting required like with traditional timber windows.
Colour Sash Windows
So much of a timber sash window’s charm lies in its individual quirks and design choices. Due to their original wood finish, it is not uncommon to find that traditional sliding sash windows are painted – a design choice that many of our customers wish to continue.
Thanks to developments in high-quality foil finishes, we can replicate this painted wood effect as well as opt for block colours – the choice is yours!
Natural Wood Effects
For an authentic nod to timber sash windows, our foils suitable for both inside and outside of the window include Crystal White, Cream, Irish Oak and Golden Oak.
Aluminium Trend
With aluminium and steel-effect windows becoming ever more popular, our sash windows are now available in Anthracite Grey to help add a contemporary twist to your traditional windows.
Custom Colours
Can’t find the perfect colour? Our mid-range sash windows can be any colour you can think of. Whether you’re looking to perfectly match an existing part of your home, or you simply want to try something new, our sash windows can be colour-matched to any RAL colour code using a high-quality spray-painted finish. You can even choose dual colours to mix it up inside and out.

Pros and Cons of Mid-Range Sash Windows
There are many benefits to mid-range windows, and there is nothing middle-of-the-road about this collection. However, there are a few factors to consider when choosing between mid-range and high-end UPVC sash windows.
Pros:
- Mid-range windows are more affordable
- They offer many of the same energy efficiency and security benefits as more expensive alternatives
- They are versatile and customisable
Cons:
- Mid-range windows can look like authentic sash windows but for an indistinguishable look, high end have the edge
- Mid-range windows may not be approved for a listed building or a home in a conservation area
- High-end windows may have a longer lifespan
It comes down to personal preference and the look you are trying to achieve. You must also consider your initial budget versus the potential savings high-end windows can bring.

Mid-Range Sash Windows FAQs
What Manchester Window Factory doesn’t know about windows isn’t worth knowing, so if your question isn’t answered below, our family-run business is here to help.
The ‘grid-style’ design of traditional Georgian-style windows can be achieved in two ways during modern window replacements: Georgian bars or Astragal bars.
With Georgian bars, the ‘bars’ are sealed inside the panes of glass, whereas Astragal bars are added onto the glazing both internally and externally. Both methods help to mimic the appearance of multiple panes of glass for a period aesthetic that is high in curb appeal.
Whilst this is a personal choice, if your existing windows are inefficient with heat or require a significant amount of upkeep, replacement sash windows are a worthy consideration. If your windows get stuck midway or are difficult to open and close, you may need to repair or replace them.
Replacing old sash windows with new models can improve your energy efficiency, prevent draughts and condensation and even add value to your property, providing they are attractive and well-fitted, and we have both covered.
uPVC sliding sash windows can last many years and help in reducing your energy costs due to their excellent thermal qualities, making them a fantastic investment for your home.
You could also consider switching to casement windows depending on the architecture and decor of your home, and your requirements.
Our mid-range uPVC sash windows were designed with safety in mind, with high-performing locking systems, toughened glass and security bars providing excellent security from potential intruders.
All our windows and doors meet British Police security standards and carry the PAS 24 seal of approval from the British Standards Institution, for your peace of mind.
This may be a question of personal preference, but when it comes to durability, it’s hard to ignore the huge benefits of modern uPVC. With weather resistance and advancements in foil designs and colours, it’s now easier than ever to imitate the beauty of traditional timber sash windows but without the higher price tag or higher maintenance.
